George grew up in Danbury Connecticut then went to Milwaukee, Wisconsin to attend Marquette University. He began work as a part-time employee at UPS in 1974, eventually working up to District HR Manager for support functions for UPS Airlines. In 1997, George left to pursue other opportunities. During the next couple of decades he trained and worked as a mediator as well as other endeavors. George began part-time work at Heaven Hill in 2015 and moved to full-time in 2016. He became the first to win Louisville Tourism R.O.S.E. award in the Attractions category in 2016. Most recently, George helped develop and roll out the Ideal Bartender Experience striving to highlight the life of Tom Bullock, the first black man to write and publish a cocktail book.

George has been married to Mary Twohig since 1982. They have two sons, Colin the older, is currently Director of Undergraduate Biology Labs at Georgia Tech, while Miles was just recently promoted to Member at Frost Brown Todd.
