Dan Callaway combines his love for great whiskey and superior hospitality with his experience in the arts. A former musician turned sommelier, he brings his talents together to create immersive guest experiences and innovative bourbon blends.
A native of England, he moved to Baltimore at age 11. His love of music then took him to Ohio, where he graduated from the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music with a focus in horn performance and next to Louisiana, where he earned a master’s degree from Louisiana State University. He performed as a member of the Louisiana Philharmonic in New Orleans and around the world with the Hollywood Concert Orchestra.
Callaway settled in Louisville as a certified sommelier and General Manager of Decca Restaurant. The Bardstown Bourbon Company recruited him to join their operations, where he currently serves as Vice President, Hospitality and Product Development. He thrives on the daily challenges of the culinary and spirits industries. Callaway enjoys creating unique, hands-on experiences that showcase his love for cuisine and distillation. As head of Product Development, he has sought out collaboration creating partnerships with Plantation Rum, Amaro Nonino, and Foursquare Rum. His current focus is to unify the distilleries of Bardstown and celebrate the Bourbon Capital of the World.
